Katie Bouman was the first ever to reconstruct an image of a black hole. In order to do this she created algorithms that wove together incomplete data. She continues to work in other fields on combining data. Bouman is also viewed as a figure for women in computer science. She has won several prestigious awards throughout the years for her discoveries in computer science
